The Reserve Bank of India has said that residents may deal in foreign exchange only with authorised persons and for permitted purposes under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, and only on electronic trading platforms the RBI has authorised or on recognised Indian exchanges. It has also said that remittances for margins to overseas exchanges or overseas counterparties are not permitted under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme.
