Take Profit Trader review
Take Profit Trader is a futures prop firm run by TakeProfitTrader LLC from Windermere, Florida, with James Sixsmith as founder and chief executive. Traders buy a one step test as a monthly subscription and trade CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX contracts on more than a dozen platforms through CQG or Rithmic data. Five sizes are offered, from $150 a month for $25,000 to $360 a month for $150,000, with profit targets of $1,500 to $9,000 and end of day trailing drawdowns of $1,500 to $4,500. The test has no daily loss limit and no time limit, but it needs at least three trading days and a best day below 50% of total profit. Passing leads to a simulated PRO account after a one time $130 activation fee, and PRO traders can withdraw from day one once the balance clears a buffer equal to the drawdown, keeping 80% of profits. Selected traders may be invited to PRO+, a live market account with a 90% split and end of day drawdown. The firm reports that 36.22% of trading tests taken in 2025 were passed. Bots and algorithms are banned, and all positions must be closed before the 5pm Eastern end of the trading day.
Suits
Manual intraday futures traders who want to withdraw profits from the first day of a funded account without waiting for payout windows.
Less suited to
Avoid Take Profit Trader if you trade with bots or algorithms, hold positions overnight, or live in one of the more than 100 restricted countries.
Pros
- PRO accounts can withdraw from day one and on any day after, with no maximum amount and no funded consistency rule.
- The test has no daily loss limit and no time limit.
- The test drawdown is calculated at the end of the day rather than intraday.
- Most PRO account withdrawals to the wallet are processed automatically within seconds.
- The firm publishes a pass rate of 36.22% for trading tests taken in 2025.
Cons
- The test is a monthly subscription, and a $130 activation fee applies when moving to PRO.
- PRO accounts use an intraday trailing drawdown that counts unrealised profit.
- Profit inside the buffer can only be taken by closing the account, at a 50% split within the first 60 trading days.
- Bots and algorithms are banned, and all positions must be closed before 5pm Eastern each day.
- More than 100 countries are restricted, including Turkey, South Africa, the Philippines and Nigeria.
Verdict
Take Profit Trader's defining feature is its payout policy. PRO accounts can request withdrawals from the first day and on any day after, with no minimum number of profitable days, no payout window, no funded consistency rule and no maximum amount, and most PRO account withdrawals to the firm's wallet are now automated. The test rules are also simple: one phase, no daily loss limit, an end of day trailing drawdown and a 50% consistency rule that raises the target rather than failing the account. The costs need careful reading. The test is billed monthly until it is passed, the PRO account needs a $130 activation fee, and wallet withdrawals of $250 or less carry a $50 fee. Profit can only be withdrawn above a buffer equal to the maximum drawdown, and taking money from inside the buffer means closing the account, at a 50% split if it has been traded for 60 trading days or fewer. The drawdown also switches from end of day on the test to intraday trailing on PRO, including open profit, which is tighter. Automated trading is not allowed, positions cannot be held overnight, and funded traders must be flat around FOMC, NFP and CPI releases. The firm's published pass rate of 36.22% for 2025 gives a fair guide to the difficulty. Trustpilot shows a rating of 4.4 from more than 10,700 reviews. The firm suits manual intraday futures traders who want frequent, flexible access to their profits.

How do Take Profit Trader payouts work?
PRO traders can withdraw from day one and on any day after, with no maximum, once the balance is above the buffer, which equals the starting balance plus the maximum drawdown. On a $50,000 account the buffer is $52,000. Funds move from the account to the firm's wallet and then to a bank through Plaid for US banks, or through PayPal or Wise elsewhere.
Does Take Profit Trader have a daily loss limit?
No. The pricing table shows the daily loss limit as removed, and the account comparison lists no daily loss rule on Test, PRO or PRO+ accounts. The main risk limit is the trailing drawdown, which is calculated at the end of the day on tests and intraday, including open profit, on PRO accounts until it reaches the starting balance.

PRO+ is a live market account offered by invitation after a review of trading performance. Orders are routed to the exchange through Tradovate, the split rises to 90%, there is no buffer requirement and the drawdown is calculated at the end of the day. When a trader moves up, $5,000 of PRO profit stays frozen in the PRO account while the PRO+ account is active.
Can you trade news with Take Profit Trader?
News trading is unrestricted on test accounts. On PRO and PRO+ accounts, traders must be flat with no working orders from one minute before to one minute after FOMC statements, Non Farm Payrolls and CPI releases. The firm points traders to red folder USD events on Forex Factory and to its own trader calendar to track these releases.
