Take Profit Trader PRO and PRO+ Accounts Explained
Take Profit Trader's PRO account allows withdrawals from day one above a buffer at 80%, and the invitation only PRO+ account moves to live trading at 90%.
PRO is the simulated funded account a trader receives after passing the Take Profit Trader test. It allows withdrawals from the first day, at an 80% split, of any profit above a buffer equal to the maximum drawdown, but its drawdown trails intraday on open profit. PRO+ is a live market account offered by invitation, with a 90% split, an end of day drawdown and no buffer.
How the PRO account works
The PRO account keeps the size and maximum drawdown of the test that was passed, from $1,500 on 25K to $4,500 on 150K, but the drawdown changes type. In the test it trails the end of day balance; on PRO it trails the peak balance intraday, including unrealised gains, and stops once it reaches the starting balance. Touching it through realised or open losses liquidates the account at once. There is no daily loss limit, no consistency rule, no scaling plan and no minimum number of days before a withdrawal.
| Account | Maximum drawdown | Buffer balance | Maximum position | PRO reset |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25K | $1,500 | $26,500 | 3 contracts | $449 |
| 50K | $2,000 | $52,000 | 6 contracts | $649 |
| 75K | $2,500 | $77,500 | 9 contracts | $799 |
| 100K | $3,000 | $103,000 | 12 contracts | $999 |
| 150K | $4,500 | $154,500 | 15 contracts | $1,499 |
Profit above the buffer can be withdrawn on any day, with no payout window and no maximum. Profit inside the buffer can only be taken by closing the PRO account for good, and then at 50% if it was traded for 60 trading days or fewer, or 80% after that. A PRO account can be reset up to three times at the prices above.
Several conduct rules apply on both PRO and PRO+. All trades must be placed by hand, with no bots or algorithms. The trader must be flat, with no working orders, from one minute before to one minute after FOMC statements, Non Farm Payrolls and CPI releases. Positions must be closed before a limit up or limit down level is hit, and open positions are closed automatically at 4:55 pm ET. Opposite positions in the same or related products are not allowed, and the account must be traded on at least one day in each calendar week to stay active.
How PRO+ works
PRO+ is a live account: orders are routed to the exchange through Tradovate rather than staying in a simulator, and the trader is classed as a professional for market data. Take Profit Trader decides who is invited after reviewing consistency, risk management and execution; there is no single threshold. When PRO+ opens, the PRO account is put on hold and $5,000 of its profit is frozen while PRO+ is active, with anything above that withdrawable at 80%. PRO+ starts at a $0 balance with an end of day drawdown equal to the PRO drawdown, for example minus $2,000 on a 50K, trailing up with realised end of day profit until it reaches $0. The split is 90%, there is no buffer, and commissions follow the broker’s rates. If PRO+ is lost, any negative balance is taken from the frozen $5,000.
Worked example
The figures below describe a made up 50K PRO account. They illustrate the rules only.
| Day | What happened | Closing balance | Minimum balance | Room |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Start | Account opened | $50,000 | $48,000 | $2,000 |
| 1 | A trade runs $1,200 into profit, then closes $400 up | $50,400 | $49,200 | $1,200 |
| 2 | Closes $1,100 up, peak balance $51,500 | $51,500 | $49,500 | $2,000 |
| 3 | Closes $1,500 up, peak balance $53,000 | $53,000 | $50,000, stopped | $3,000 |
Day 1 shows the cost of intraday trailing. The open profit peak lifted the minimum balance by $1,200 even though only $400 was banked, leaving $1,200 of room. Under the test’s end of day drawdown the same day would have left $2,000. By day 3 the minimum has stopped at the $50,000 starting balance, and the balance is $1,000 above the $52,000 buffer. The trader can withdraw that $1,000 the same evening and receives $800 at 80%, leaving $2,000 of room above the floor. The drawdown calculator and payout calculator run the same numbers for other sizes.
Costs and payout terms
The test is a monthly subscription, listed on takeprofittrader.com on 1 October 2026 at $150 for 25K, $170 for 50K, $245 for 75K, $330 for 100K and $360 for 150K. Passing it leads to a one time $130 PRO activation fee; at that time a promotion offered 40% off for life and no activation fee. Commissions on test and PRO accounts are $4.50 per round trip for standard contracts and $1.50 for micros.
Withdrawals move from the PRO account to the Take Profit Trader wallet, which is automated for most Tradovate PRO accounts and takes seconds once balances update in the evening; Rithmic PRO and PRO+ withdrawals are still reviewed by hand. From the wallet, money goes out through Plaid to US banks, PayPal or Wise. Wallet withdrawals of $250 or less carry a $50 fee. A trader can hold up to five PRO or PRO+ accounts at once. Firms change their terms often, so confirm the current version before buying.
How PRO and PRO+ compare with the test
| Feature | Test | PRO | PRO+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Environment | Simulated | Simulated | Live |
| Drawdown | End of day trailing | Intraday trailing | End of day trailing from $0 |
| Consistency rule | Best day below 50% | None | None |
| Withdrawals | None | From day one, above the buffer, 80% | From day one, no buffer, 90% |
| News rule | None | Flat around FOMC, NFP and CPI | Flat around FOMC, NFP and CPI |
| Commissions | $4.50 and $1.50 per round trip | $4.50 and $1.50 per round trip | Broker rates |
The test takes at least three days and its 50% consistency rule raises the target rather than failing the account. Take Profit Trader reports that 36.22% of trading tests were passed between January and December 2025. The step from test to PRO tightens the drawdown and adds the news rule, while removing the consistency rule and opening withdrawals. Common mistakes
- Trading PRO like the test. Open profit now moves the floor, so a winner that reverses costs room.
- Withdrawing inside the buffer. It closes the account, at 50% within 60 trading days.
- Holding through CPI, NFP or FOMC. Even a resting order in the window breaks the rule.
- Letting a week pass without trading. One traded day per calendar week keeps the account active.
- Small wallet withdrawals. Amounts of $250 or less lose $50 to the fee.
Checklist
- Note the buffer balance for your size before planning withdrawals.
- Track the minimum balance live, including open profit.
- Mark FOMC, NFP and CPI times on the trader calendar.
- Be flat before 4:55 pm ET and before any limit move.
- Withdraw in amounts above $250 from the wallet.

Frequently Asked Questions
When can I withdraw from a Take Profit Trader PRO account?
From the first day, once the balance is above the buffer, which equals the starting balance plus the maximum drawdown, for example $52,000 on a 50K. There is no payout window, no minimum number of profitable days and no maximum withdrawal. The trader keeps 80% of the amount withdrawn, and withdrawals go first to the Take Profit Trader wallet.
Is the Take Profit Trader PRO drawdown intraday or end of day?
Intraday. On PRO the drawdown trails the peak balance in real time, including unrealised gains, and stops once it reaches the starting balance. The test uses an end of day drawdown, so the same trading leaves less room on PRO. PRO+ switches back to an end of day drawdown, starting from a $0 balance.
How do I get a Take Profit Trader PRO+ account?
By invitation. Take Profit Trader reviews PRO traders for consistency, risk management, execution and discipline over time, with no single threshold, and sends an invitation by email. PRO+ is a live account at a 90% split with an end of day drawdown and no buffer, and $5,000 of PRO profit is frozen while it is active.
Can I trade news on a Take Profit Trader PRO account?
Only outside three events. PRO and PRO+ accounts must have no open positions and no working orders from one minute before to one minute after FOMC statements, Non Farm Payrolls and CPI releases. Other news, including Fed speakers and FOMC minutes, is allowed. The test account has no news rule.
What does the Take Profit Trader PRO account cost?
After passing the monthly test, a one time $130 activation fee applies, although a promotion running on 1 October 2026 waived it. There is no monthly fee on PRO. A PRO account can be reset up to three times, for $449 on 25K up to $1,499 on 150K, and commissions are $4.50 per round trip per contract or $1.50 per micro.
