Eligibility for Pakistani traders

Each prop firm decides which countries it serves and publishes the countries it excludes in its terms. The firms listed above do not name Pakistan on their restricted countries lists at present. Firms update these lists from time to time, so confirm that Pakistan is accepted at checkout and in the current terms on the day you buy. The name and address on your account should match your CNIC or passport, because the identity checks before a funded account or first payout will test them.

Paying fees and receiving payouts

Challenge prices are often set in US dollars, so check that your card is enabled for online and international payments and what your bank charges on foreign currency. The State Bank of Pakistan has also told banks to block payments to offshore trading platforms, as set out below, so a payment to a trading related business may be refused. Payouts reach Pakistani traders by international bank transfer, through payment platforms such as Rise, or in stablecoins, depending on the firm. A stablecoin payout has to be sold before it becomes rupees, and the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority says that virtual asset service providers must hold a licence before offering services in Pakistan, so check the status of any platform you use. Prop firm payout methods compares the main routes.

How prop firm payouts are commonly taxed in Pakistan

This is general information, not tax advice. The FBR treats an individual as resident for a tax year if they are in Pakistan for 183 days or more in that year, among other tests. Under the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, a resident person's income is worked out by taking into account both Pakistan source and foreign source amounts, so a payout from an overseas firm is within its scope. Payouts are paid by the firm under a contract rather than earned on assets you own, so they are commonly considered under income from business rather than capital gains, although the right head depends on your circumstances. The tax year runs from 1 July to 30 June, and individuals file their return by 30 September. Record each payout in rupees with the rate used, and check your position with the FBR or a qualified tax adviser. Prop firm income and tax explains the general principles.

What the State Bank of Pakistan says

In a circular to banks in May 2022, the State Bank of Pakistan said that residents who buy the products of offshore forex, margin and CFD trading websites, apps and platforms breach the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947, and that sending foreign exchange to them, directly or indirectly, through any payment channel is not allowed. It told banks to warn customers about the risks and illegality of such trading and to block payments to these platforms. The circular does not mention prop firms by name, and how it applies to a particular fee or payout depends on how the arrangement is structured, so take qualified advice before you pay. Prop firm regulation and are prop firms legit cover the wider checks.

Trading hours from Pakistan

Pakistan has no daylight saving, so session times in PKT shift by an hour when the UK and the US change their clocks. London opens at about noon PKT in the northern summer and 1pm in winter, and US stock markets open at 6:30pm or 7:30pm. The London and New York overlap, usually the busiest period for major currency pairs and US indices, runs from about 5pm to 9pm in summer and an hour later in winter. A daily reset at 5pm New York time falls at about 2am or 3am PKT, so a trade placed in the early hours may count towards the next trading day.

What to check before you buy

  • Pakistani eligibility. Confirm that Pakistan is accepted at checkout and in the current terms, not only in older reviews.
  • Card settings. Check that your card works for online and international payments.
  • Foreign exchange rules. Read the State Bank's 2022 circular on offshore trading platforms and take advice on how it applies to you.
  • Payout route. Find out which payout methods are open to Pakistani residents, with their minimums, fees and timing.
  • Daily reset time. Convert the daily loss reset to PKT for both halves of the year.
  • Tax records. Keep a log of every fee and payout in rupees from your first purchase.

Each firm's profile lists its programmes and restricted countries, and the comparison table can be filtered by country. The prop firm directory covers every firm on the site, other best prop firm lists group firms by platform and rules, and questions to ask before buying a challenge covers the checks to make first.

Questions about prop firms for Pakistani Traders

Can Pakistani residents buy prop firm challenges?

The firms listed on this page do not currently name Pakistan on their restricted countries lists. Eligibility is set by each firm and can change, so confirm it at checkout and in the terms on the day you buy. Separately, the State Bank of Pakistan has said that sending foreign exchange to offshore forex and CFD trading platforms is not allowed, so read its circular and take qualified advice.

Why was my Pakistani card declined by a prop firm?

Online or international use may be switched off on the card, so check those settings and any foreign spending limit with your bank. In 2022 the State Bank of Pakistan also told banks to identify offshore forex, margin and CFD trading platforms and block payments to them through any channel, so a payment to a trading related business may be refused.

Do Pakistanis pay tax on prop firm payouts?

Generally yes, if you are resident. Under the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, a resident person's income includes foreign source amounts, and payouts are commonly considered under income from business. The tax year runs from 1 July to 30 June, and individuals file their return by 30 September. This is general information, so check your position with the FBR or a qualified tax adviser.

What time do the main sessions open in Pakistan?

London opens at about noon PKT in the northern summer and 1pm in winter, and US stock markets open at 6:30pm or 7:30pm. The London and New York overlap runs through the Pakistani evening. A daily reset at 5pm New York time falls at about 2am or 3am PKT, so check which trading day a late trade counts towards.
