FTMO vs FundedNext
FTMO and FundedNext both run $100K two step challenges with a 10% static maximum loss, but they differ on targets, first payout timing, funded account rules and automation.
FTMO suits traders who want a long operating record, payouts from day 14, TradingView as a platform option and the ability to run expert advisors on a $100K account. FundedNext suits manual traders who want a lower 8% first phase target, weekend holding on funded accounts, a written 24 hour payout promise and a scaling plan that reaches $4 million. On the $100K two step both firms set a 5% daily limit and a 10% static maximum loss, so the choice rests on targets, payout timing and funded account rules.
All prices are list prices at the time of review in September 2026. FTMO prices its challenges in euros and FundedNext in US dollars, and both firms run frequent discounts.

Rules and drawdown
The loss limits on the two step products match. Both set a 5% daily limit and a 10% maximum loss fixed from the starting balance, so the floor on a $100K account stays at $90,000 however much profit is made. FTMO calculates the daily limit as a fixed 5% of the initial balance, deducted from the balance recorded at midnight Central European time, and equity must stay above that level. FundedNext counts swap charges towards the daily loss. The daily loss limit vs maximum drawdown guide explains how the two limits interact.
The targets differ. FTMO asks for 10% and then 5% with at least four trading days in each phase. FundedNext asks for 8% and then 5% with a five day minimum. Neither sets a time limit or a consistency rule on the standard option, although FundedNext applies a 40% best day rule if the trader chooses on demand rewards.
Both firms also sell a one step. The FTMO 1 Step costs €499 for $100K, with a 10% target, a 3% daily limit, a 10% maximum loss that trails the highest end of day balance, a 90% split and a Best Day Rule that stops one day making up more than half of the profit. The FundedNext Stellar 1 Step costs $569.99, with a 10% target, a 3% daily limit, a 6% static maximum loss and an 80% base split. FundedNext also sells Stellar Lite, a cheaper two step at $399.99 for $100K with targets of 8% and 4% and limits of 4% and 8%. The one step vs two step guide covers the trade offs.
Funded account rules
This is where the two firms differ most. On FTMO’s funded Standard accounts, trades on affected instruments cannot be opened or closed from two minutes before to two minutes after selected news releases, and positions must be closed before the weekend. The Swing account type, offered on the 2 Step only, removes both restrictions in exchange for leverage of up to 1:30 instead of 1:100.
FundedNext allows overnight and weekend holding on challenge and funded Stellar accounts. On funded accounts only 40% of the profit from trades opened or closed within five minutes of listed high impact news on a correlated instrument counts, while losses count in full, and open risk is capped at 3% of the account at any time.
Automation is the other key difference. FTMO allows expert advisors if the strategy could be replicated in real markets, with a capital allocation limit of $400,000 per trader or strategy. FundedNext allows expert advisors only on MetaTrader accounts below $50,000 with a paid add on, so a $100K Stellar account must be traded manually.
Pricing, fees and refunds
FTMO’s 2 Step costs €540 for $100K, and at the time of review the firm was offering it at €439 to traders without an active challenge of that size. Because fees are charged in euros, the dollar cost moves with the exchange rate. FundedNext’s Stellar 2 Step costs $549.99, and prices for US clients differ. Both refund the 2 Step fee with the first reward. FTMO adds a 3% fee on PayPal, Skrill and crypto payments, and FundedNext adds 1% on PayPal and crypto and 3% on Skrill.
Payouts
FTMO rewards can be requested from the 14th day after the first trade on the account. FTMO reviews the request within one to two business days and typically sends funds within one to two business days after the invoice is approved. It charges no commission on withdrawals, and methods include bank wire, card payouts up to $20,000, Skrill and crypto. The minimum is $20 of closed profit by bank wire. The 2 Step split starts at 80% and moves to 90% for traders who qualify for the Scaling Plan, which adds 25% to the balance every four months, up to $2 million.
FundedNext’s standard option pays the first reward after 21 days and then every 14 days at 80%. Traders who choose three winning day rewards receive 60%, on demand rewards pay 90%, and a paid Lifetime Reward add on lifts the share to 95%. FundedNext promises to process rewards within 24 hours or add $1,000 to the payout, although bank transfers and requests under manual review are excluded, and it charges a processing fee of up to 3.5%. On challenges bought from 12 January 2026, its FundedNext Pro scale up adds 25% to the balance after four rewards with at least 4% growth in each, up to $4 million, with the split rising to 90%.
